This week, Gordon Jones takes us through a spin of Cambridge, New Zealand/Aotearoa with a great collection of shorter recovery focussed rides.
Cambridge, Kemureti in te reo, is also the home of the New Zealand Cycling team and also played host to the 2019-20 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup!
As a bonus, we’ve also released the elite and age group 2022 New Zealand National Road Championship courses filmed by Cycling New Zealand.
Podium Cafe to Spoken Cycles
Having downed a cappuccino and a slice its time to head back into town where this time we go on the road. A super fast Strava sector keeps flashing on your Garmin, and your aero-tucked looking at the Watts as the dot hovers over that PB. If you’re holding over 40Kmh and get to the meeting point you might be rewarded with the fastest of the day. You get another chance to open the tap coming into Cambridge approaching the narrow bridge then there’s bragging rights to who can get to the cafes first.

Spoken Cycles Tuesday Meetup
This is a regular Tuesday night meetup ride for sometimes over 80 riders. Going through Cambridge’s main street we then cross the narrow bridge out of town to then all meet up at the Karapiro corner. If there is time, some riders will ride to the lake and back. You can ride that section in my Karapiro ride.

Spoken Cycles to Podium Cafe
A nice easy flat ride along one of Cambridge’s frequently travelled cycle paths finishing at the Podium Cafe. Enjoy the rather nice view of the river and Karapiro Rowing Club, where Hamish Bond, our three-time Olympic rowing Gold medallist and others train. Take the ” Podium Cafe to Spoken Cycles” ride back for an excellent TT sector ride.
